A True Commitment to Sustainability at Machu Picchu Foods

We are dedicated to sustainability, aiming to make a positive impact on local communities and the environment. Through various projects, we strive to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030.​

​1. Nuwa Muun: Empowering Women​

The Nuwa Muun project focuses on empowering women farmers in the regions of Pasco, Junín, and Ucayali, recognizing their essential role in agricultural production and the development of their communities. By providing training in cocoa farm management, we equip them with the necessary tools to improve their productivity and increase their income. These trainings not only benefit their economies but also strengthen their self-esteem and leadership in the family and community sphere.​

​The project aligns with the gender equality objectives – SDG 5, addresses poverty – SDG 1, and inequalities – SDG 10. We firmly believe that investing in women’s potential creates a multiplier effect that contributes to more equitable and sustainable development in the regions where we work.​

2. Wiñay Project: Strengthening Education in Cocoa-Growing Communities​​

​Through the Wiñay project, we are dedicated to improving educational infrastructure in cocoa-growing communities, recognizing that quality education is fundamental to the holistic development of children. By constructing adequate learning spaces, such as well-equipped kitchens, playgrounds, and dining areas, we ensure that students have a conducive environment that promotes their education and well-being. This comprehensive approach not only transforms the physical space but also contributes to the social and emotional development of children, allowing them to learn and grow in a safe and stimulating environment.​

​Our initiative is aligned with the objectives of Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – SDG 9 and Quality Education – SDG 4. We believe that by providing the right tools and space, we are not only improving learning conditions but also sowing the seeds for a brighter and more sustainable future for these communities.​

3. Regenerative Agriculture: A Sustainable Approach​​

In our commitment to a more sustainable future, we carry out regenerative agriculture projects that seek to restore soil and conserve biodiversity. We are part of a growing network of initiatives that implement innovative techniques to rebuild organic matter and mitigate the effects of global warming. This approach not only benefits the environment but also empowers communities, especially on farms managed by women, who play a fundamental role in implementing these sustainable practices.​

​Our efforts are aligned with the objectives of Responsible Consumption and Production – SDG 12 and Climate Action – SDG 12. By applying these objectives within our daily work, we improve soil quality and promote biodiversity. In addition, we offer training to ensure that both men and women in our communities can adopt these practices, thus contributing to a fairer and more balanced food system that benefits everyone and the environment.​

4. Housing Upgrade: I Have a Better Home with MPF​​

​The “I Have a Better Home with MPF” program has been created to support our employees in improving their homes, recognizing that an adequate environment is fundamental to their well-being and productivity. Through accessible loans, we provide the opportunity to make structural improvements that positively impact the quality of life of our employees and their families. This initiative promotes stability and health in the home, key elements for optimal performance at work.​

This project is aligned to end poverty – SDG 1 and reducing inequalities – SDG 10 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 1. By promoting housing improvement, we are not only supporting our employees but also helping to build stronger and more resilient communities, which in turn benefits our organization as a whole.​
